~Pop-Ups Page~
As we are now using GradeSpeed in the district and it is utilizing a pop-up screen, we are not able to enable the pop-up blocker built into Microsoft Internet Explorer or the other available pop-up blockers. One way for us to help block them is to stop the source code that causes them from infecting our computers in the first place. Most Pop-Ups are actually code or software loaded onto our computers while we are surfing the web. They come in the form of cookies. Cookies were intended to improve our web experience such as allowing the web server to remember such items as logon passwords, purchases that we made and what we last did on there website. However, many times they are installing software onto your computer to report back your surfing habits, where you go on the web and bombard you with pop-ups. One of the best ways I have found to slow down these pop-ups is to restrict cookies to only the web sites that I do business with.
The following shows you how to restrict the cookies that are loaded on your computer.
Open Microsoft Internet Explorer
Click on tools and choose internet options as shown in figure 1.

Figure 1
This will bring up the Internet Options box, click on the Privacy tab as shown in figure 2.

Figure 2
Click the advanced button as shown in figure 3.

Figure 3
Click the radio button to place a check mark in the box by the Override automatic cookie handling, select the prompt for "First party cookies" and prompt for "Third party cookies" as shown in figure 4

Figure 4
Click Ok to close the Advanced Privacy Settings box.
Click Ok to close the Internet Options dialog box.
As you browse the web you will get dialog boxes telling you that the website has requested to save a file on your computer called a cookie, as shown in figure 5.
